Last year was our first annual She Takes on the World Women of the Year Awards which recognized ten women, chosen by you, as Women of the Year 2008.

If you know an amazing woman who doesn’t always get the recognition she should, nominate her for Women of the Year 2009. There are two ways to nominate someone:

  1. Send a tweet to @nataliemacneil that says “I think (Insert name here) should be recognized in Women of the Year 09 on SheTakesOnTheWorld.com”
  2. Email your nomination to natalie@shetakesontheworld.com

You can nominate more than one person and nominations are accepted up to 8:30 pm EST on Wednesday, December 30th. Nominators will be entered to win a $20.00 Amazon.com gift card. She Takes on the World Women of the Year 2009 will be announced on Thursday, December 31st.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday with your family and friends.

How is the winner determined? is it by the number of nominations? Or by the information submitted in the email? or by something else?

Deb, there is no single winner. There are a few judges who will be sorting through all nominations and researching the nominees to decide which women should be featured in the annual Women of the Year post. There will likely be around 10 women selected, although, we will feature however many women we think are deserving of the recognition. It is a goal of She Takes on the World to feature women doing interesting and amazing things who don’t always get the attention they deserve. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I like it’s interesting to see who was nominated for this. I think there should be a stay at home mom of the year :) We are doing many special things with our two year olds.. (So I hear).
